2013 Creative Arts Emmys: ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Good Wife,’ ‘Scandal’ stars among winners

The latest -While there are many categories that you may or may not have actually heard of at the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday night, it was the perfect preparation for the major awards show airing on CBS Sunday, as we started to see just what direction many of the voters are going when handing out some of their trophies.

One thing that we did notice just from the guest-acting awards themselves? That network TV may still have a shot to win trophies, despite them being shut out more and more these days, especially in the drama series category. We’re not going to go through every winner below (though fans of “Behind the Candelabra” and “Game of Thrones” will be thrilled with the number of behind-the-scenes trophies they each won), but here are the winners for those aforementioned guest awards.

Guest Actor in a Drama Series – Dan Bucatinsky, “Scandal.” This is clearly a big way for Bucatinsky, who will hopefully get some more chances to continue acting here in addition to his writing duties on another show in “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Guest Actress in a Drama Series – Carrie Preston, “The Good Wife.” Another clearly-deserving trophy.

Guest Actor in a Comedy Series – Bob Newhart, “The Big Bang Theory.” Newhart was great on the show, but this is also correcting a grave injustice. To this point, Newhart had never won an acting award despite being heralded as one of the best TV actors of all time.

Guest Actress in a Comedy Series – Melissa Leo, “Louie.” For whatever reason, we still remember Leo the best for her cursing at the Academy Awards.

Are you happy that some of these actors who were declared the winners? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and click here to see some of our other Emmy predictions for this year’s show.
