‘The X Factor’ UK preview: Souli Roots is … interesting

Take a look -We don’t know what is stranger about Souli Roots right now: That she writes three songs per day, or that her favorite writing device is a crayon.

Yes, this is not going to be a good audition on today’s episode of “The X Factor” UK. Souli’s voice is screechy, irritating, and sure to inspire pretty much no feelings of joy among fans. It’s more likely to inspire a headache. The only real compliment that we can give her is that she’s not the worst singer in the history of the competition. She’s at least a happy sort of bad, which is better than the people who come in and believe that they are the second coming of Stevie Wonder. Of course, her attitude could mean that finding out the news that she is awful is a devastating blow to her confidence.

We wonder constantly about the psyche of some of these bad contestants. How do they go home after this? We figure some of them are legitimately happy; they know in their heart of hearts that they are not good enough to be on the show, and they can just go home and have a little bit of fun with some of their friends over their brief brush with celebrity. We don’t think we’re spoiling anything when we say that Souli is probably not getting through, but we think that she will still look back on this experience fondly … which is more than we can really say about us with it.
