‘Breaking Bad’ season 5, episode 12 preview: Walter White sits alone in ‘Rabid Dog’

Take a look -Breaking Bad” has developed a pretty consistent habit for itself when it comes to not really spilling much in the way of details about its episodes beforehand, and they are not going to stop that pattern now for “Rabid Dog,” one of the few new episodes with the gusto to actually air a new episode on Sunday night.

Luckily, we do at least have a couple of new photos to look at for the sake of analysis. In the first one, it’s hard to really think of anything other than both what Skyler tried to do to herself last year, and what we saw from those crazy teenagers at the start of the season. This is the sort of role that the swimming pool has taken on for us: A chamber of sadness and what could have been. The sole purpose of having a pool at your house is enjoyment, but instead of getting that, it only seems to cause pain. (Conspiracy alert: What else on the show is this bright shade of blue? We know Vince Gilligan loves his colors, but this is probably a bridge too far given that we don’t know what other color you’re supposed to make water.)

Marie -As for another photo, it focuses on Marie and (of course) the color purple. It’s at least nice to see that she is back to her typical wardrobe after dressing in black for the better part of the last episode, but we wish that there was something more to go on here. It’s literally just Marie, standing in front of a barren painting on a barren wall. Maybe it’s part of the point that Marie’s life is now barren, but that hardly provides much in the way of conversation.

We named last week’s “Confessions” our Episode of the Week here at CarterMatt, and we’d love to do the same thing again for “Rabid Dog.” We’ll be back after the episode airs tomorrow for our full review, and following that we will have analysis during the week.
