As you watch the summer finale tonight for ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars,” you are going to see the town of Ravenswood become more and more of a major part of the show. This is really just all buildup for the arrival of the spin-off series this coming fall, which is going to debut as the second part of a two-hour Halloween spectacular that includes the flagship show’s Halloween special (more on that a little later tonight).
When it comes to story, sadly, this promo does not give away anything at all. Visually, though, the color presentation is somewhat different from the muted grays and blacks that we have seen Ravenswood presented as in the “Pretty Little Liars” universe, which makes it feel like that was more of just a creative choice for the flagship show than something that they were planning to do in the spin-off.
As for familiar faces, the only one that you are going to see is the man featured above: Tyler Blackburn’s Caleb. He is the sole series regular crossing over to join the new show, which means that some pretty bad things are coming for him and Hanna (Ashley Benson). Namely, they are only going to keep their relationship going for two more episodes at most. Are there some opportunities for their worlds to collide some more? Definitely, but given that Ravenswood is a more supernatural town than Rosewood, and executive producer Marlene King is probably going to try to establish a little bit of distance so that they do not feel the same.
