‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Homeland’s’ David Negahban cast as Oliver Queen’s latest foe

More scoop -Do we have one of the official big bads for “Arrow” season 2? Based on the latest casting information coming in now, it certainly feels like it. While the character of Al-Owal is not necessarily going to be familiar itself to fans of the DC Universe, his ties are to the League of Assassins, a very notorious organization ran by Ra’s Al Ghul, and whose membership tally also includes none other than Malcolm. While it’s not entirely clear what this group will look like within the world of the show, just know that Al-Owal will be a part of it.

As for who will play this character throughout much of the new season, it is someone who you are likely very familiar with already: “Homeland” actor David Negahban. Basically, he’s going from Abu Nazir to someone else very notorious. E! News first reported this story, and claims that he will first appear in the fifth episode airing in early November.

This is just one of the many prospective villains coming to “Arrow” for season 2. In addition to such returning faces as Deadshot and China White, Summer Glau is going to play Isabel Rochev, who could cause as much trouble for Oliver as his super alter-ego. There are also some other new characters joining the show on the side of good, including the possible beginnings of the Black Canary storyline as well as the introduction to Barry Allen, who later becomes The Flash.

This is a major casting coup for The CW, which is not a network that you always associate with getting actors from Emmy-winning series. “Arrow” was great last year, and this almost assures that it will stay that way.
