‘America’s Got Talent’: Duo Resonance, Tone the Chiefrocca (‘Booty Song’) named wild card
There was more than just results revealed on Wednesday night’s “America’s Got Talent” results show: We also had the opportunity to hear the announcement about the wild cards for this season.
The one thing that excited us about this? That this is officially the nail in the coffin to that YouTube show, which had brought us one great act in the past in Jackie Evancho, and then a bunch of terrible ones.
But at least the producers are doing their best to give us four wild-card acts that will be spread over the course of the next two shows. While Howard Stern and Howie Mandel are saving their announcements for next week, tonight Heidi Klum and Mel B each made their choices.
-Heidi elected to bring back Duo Resonance, which was an interesting choice given that they were about to go home tonight otherwise. Even the pair seemed to be shocked about it, but grateful that Heidi chose to give them another chance after what was a pretty strong performance that was lyrical and gorgeous to watch.
-Meanwhile, Mel B decided to hilariously bring back Tone the Chiefrocca, mostly because if there was one thing that we really needed to see on the show again, it was another reprisal of “B-O-O-T-Y.” We do find them valuable camp, though, and with that in mind, we can’t hate it.
Who are you the most excited to see during the wild-card rounds on the show? We’ve got more news related to the show, including the full results from tonight’s show, over at the link here.

It’s extremely rare to find an individual or group on these reality tv shows with any true national or transforming talent. I’m not saying that some of the acts are not fun to watch, and may eventually have great careers or future performances in what they do, but if these reality performance shows like AGT, The Voice, Xfactor, American Idol, and others have a premise of finding new national and amazing talent…then most of them are failing miserably. There are the extremely rare talents like Jackie Evancho who simply stole the 2010 season of AGT (regardless of 2nd placement), but after such a transforming and now multinational figure as Miss Evancho, all of the other acts simply pale in comparison. I wish that these shows made more of an effort to find the truly great talents among us, and give them the opportunity to shine like Miss Evancho, and absolutely leave off the inane.

No, I reject the hilarious feel of the premise. With her choice, Mel B has just dumped a fiery pile of garbage on this season and did away with whatever credibility remained with these judges.

Not sure if she was in the running, but I think a decision like that may get Mel B the boot for AGT’s next season.

I think Tone The Chiefrocca is a horrible choice. There are some acts that have really worked hard, dedicated a lot of time to their talent, and might actually have a chance to impress us with a renewed chance on the show. One of the themes is to “step it up” and we’ve seen this act over and over with a little more bling each time. Every other singing act is expected to move to another song and show the breadth of their ability. Feels like several acts just got robbed.
