‘The X Factor’ UK season 10: Show adopts two-night format starting August 31

Take a look -There’s a couple of important new announcements to share now when it comes to the newest season of “The X Factor” UK. First of all, we finally have a premiere date! This season of the show will kick off with new episodes beginning on Saturday, August 31, and is going to run in a two-night format similar to what the American version of the show does … albeit with a slight twist.

For this series, the show is going to divide up auditions between the small rooms (similar to an “American Idol” audition) and then the second phase in front of an audience. You need to advance past the room to have any hope of making it in front of a crowd. This, in addition to bringing back Sharon Osbourne for the first time in years, will help to give a new edge and breath some personality into a show that is in need of a ratings boost.

This two-night philosophy is going to continue for the show for the entirety of the fall, beginning with the premiere and carrying straight through to the finale on Sunday, December 15. That is quite an enormous commitment that the show is asking of its audience, and if there is one concern that we have here in advance, which is that at some point there are going be viewers that don’t want to make that kind of TV commitment for three and a half months. Then again, “American Idol” runs for just as long, if not longer, and it manages just fine.

ITV has also commissioned another show in “Stepping Out” designed to rival “Strictly Come Dancing,” which has emerged as the biggest threat that “The X Factor” faces in terms of ratings.
