‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Meet Jean Loring!

New casting -In between Barry Allen and some origins for the Black Canary storyline, the producers of “Arrow” are making it very clear that season 2 will contain quite a few characters from the DC lore. So why not go ahead and add another?

The folks from Green Arrow TV today are reporting that “Battlestar Galactica” alum Teryl Rothery has netted a fantastic recurring role this fall as Jean Loring, a character that has been a part of the comic universe for several decades. She will be a part of the Moira Queen storyline, as both a friend and member of her legal council. She is also the ex-wife of Ray Palmer, who is known in the DC universe by his hero name “The Atom.” Maybe this means that this character will also bet turning up at some point?

The one thing that many of these casting announcements have done so far is really show that the writers and producers are looking beyond just the Green Arrow story, and creating a whole universe that features some other popular DC comic characters that really have not been touched on much in television or film. This is clearly going to help when it comes to enhancing the world surrounding Oliver Queen, and it could even give him some interesting allies down the line. (We’re still curious about the Metamorpho tease from a little earlier in the month.)

From the standpoint of villains, we know already that there will be a couple of Big Bad types coming up, and also the presence of the Suicide Squad, a group that includes Deadshot.

The new season of “Arrow” premieres on The CW Wednesday, October 9, where it will be paired with another superhero-themed show in “The Tomorrow People.”
