‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Could the Flash be coming as possible spin-off?

The CW LogoNow that The CW has their fill of vampires, it seems that superheroes are very much the new flavor of the week. You stick with what you know, and following the massive success of “Arrow” this year, the executive producing team of Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti may be looking now to develop around another popular hero in the Flash.

According to Deadline, it is possible that producers for “Arrow” are looking to possibly include the Flash as a part of the story this year, and then spin him off into a separate program that could air on the network next season. This is a bold and potentially-exciting move; the Flash is one of those heroes with a huge amount of backstory, and much of it is untapped on the screen in comparison to Batman or Superman.

Now, here is where the skepticism about introducing the character into “Arrow” comes into play. This world has been set up to be realistic, and how can you have a show about a guy with superhuman speed? Are you just going to cast Usain Bolt in the part and hope that he can act? Obviously, we are sure that they would like to keep the characters within the same universe, given that it would allow for epic crossovers and villains infiltrating the two worlds, which would be great for people who watch both shows or complicated for people who are only fans of one.

Like the currently-planned spin-off for “Supernatural,” this is something that is definitely worth watching, though you also have to wonder right now just how many spin-off shows that The CW really needs given that they already have “The Originals” starting up this fall.
