‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ review: Did Gretchen Rossi’s proposal work?

It’s not often that you see something quite like what happened on Monday night’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” mostly because it is so rare to see a woman being the one doing the proposal … especially someone who is as wealthy / famous as Gretchen Rossi.

With this in mind, this is what made her asking Slade Smiley to marry her into something that was actually a cool TV event. It was different! She planned it all out herself, popped the question in a very romantic location, and even came up with a nice speech. Almost all of this really was enough to make us temporarily forget about all of the fact that Slade, also in this same episode, threw massive shade seemingly on Vicki Gunvalson during his radio show. Yep, and that’s why so many people don’t like the guy.

But when it comes to top “Real Housewives” proposals, this still has to go on the list of some our favorites mostly because we have seen more of their journey on the show than with some other stars, who have either not been together as long or have not collectively been such a fixture of the show. We’re curious to see if like Tamra Barney, Gretchen and Slade end up getting their own wedding spin-off show, since it would mark an opportunity for some more laughs and also mountains upon mountains of more drama that seems to follow these two around, after all, almost like a disease.

This was fun, and the moment was enough to over shadow some more of Lydia’s family struggles, or Heather trying to get her children excited about a move.
