‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Who is shooting in Iceland?

Game of Thrones

“Game of Thrones” season 4 filming in Iceland is now currently underway, and based on some of the geography that we are seeing right now for the series, it does feel as though HBO is getting ready to truly bring us some more magnificent landscapes, not to mention some fine acting and storytelling. The network has already proven that it will spare no expense when it comes to getting out in these locations, which add some wonderful contrast to the indoor work that is done at the studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The news we have for you today comes out of Þingvellir, which is where we are going to see at least part of the storyline for Maisie Williams’ character of Arya this season. Executive producer Chris Newman confirmed this news in a chat with a local outlet (per Winter is Coming), and both she and Rory McCann (otherwise known as The Hound) were present for filming.

The stunning news that we found out recently in regards to the Iceland shoot is that filming really is only going to last in the country for a couple of weeks, and that it is unclear if the show will return in the colder months to get some of the country’s snowier regions on film. The areas they are filming in this time are located in the southern part of the country, where there is a beautiful variety of different landscapes and a slightly warmer climate in the summer months.
