‘Royal Pains’ season 5, episode 7 preview: The toughest negotiation

Royal PainsAt the end of Wednesday night’s “Royal Pains” episode, Hank decided that for the future of HankMed, the best thing would be to get all of the parties in a room in an effort to talk things out. For the first time ever, he seemed somewhat understanding of the feeling that he could not continue to be the same nomadic doctor forever that works out of his home, and that this was an opportunity to not only increase business, but have backers.

Unfortunately, increasing your business does come with a pretty substantial dose of bureaucracy, and that is precisely what next week’s awkwardly-named episode “Chock Full O’Nuts” seems to be all about: Dealing with the possibility that perhaps these folks at Hamptons Heritage are not all what they seem. So far, they’ve managed to make the workplace into almost a set version of a Mary Sue character: Someone who is perfect in every way to the point that they annoy everyone.

There’s got to be some pretty substantial flaws within the Heritage armor, and we imagine that we’re about to see them … since nobody is that perfect. Who knows? Maybe the operators of the hospital want Hank and his doctors to sell away their souls in order to work there? Considering that Shelby has been going at Hank in a manipulative way a la contestants on “Big Brother,” we’re definitely not putting this too far out of the realm of possibility that there is something that causes them to walk away, or at least realize that they have a much more complicated road ahead for them.
