‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: Misha Collins on possible comedy for Castiel

SupernaturalSupernatural” is never just the sum of one of its parts. Fans appreciate it for a myriad of reasons, whether it be the acting, the writing, the muscle cars, the creatures, or even at times the sly humor that goes along with ripping a demon’s head off. There are truly dramatic moments no doubt (see the church scene from last season), but without the humor to balance things out, the show would run the risk of feeling too one-note or even at times stale.

When you are nine seasons in to the process, the one thing that we can tell you is that you’re not exactly looking at a situation where it is very likely that things are going to change too much. For more on that, just listen or read below Misha Collins’ take on how Castiel could be linked to the comedy of the episodes ahead (per Fanbolt):

“There’s some moments early this season where there is some immediate comic relief, interrupted by some moments of [great] sadness. I kind of like it. Cas is sort of the fish-out-of-water foil that he occasionally has been on the show. The comedy’s a little bit more grounded.”

Some of this humor, or at least we figure, will probably include some of the content that Misha listed off previously. That’s right: We are talking about the eating and the “fornicating” that the character could be going through for the first time. Out of all the actors on the show this year, he’s the one we’re clearly the most jealous of for the work that he’s going to get to do this year. It’s a completely new experience for a character, and it’s one that has already been able to play everything from benevolent angel friend to a temporary evildoer.
