‘Under the Dome’ episode 5 preview: Can Big Jim really ‘come clean’?
While most of the publicity surrounding Monday night’s new episode of “Under the Dome” has revolved in some way around the notion of “family day,” this is really just code for “one last visit before we possibly kill everyone.” The danger that is going to be a part of this episode will indeed be palpable in many ways, as almost everyone is going to struggle in some shape or form with the challenge of figuring out if there is a way in which they can survive what is in many ways impending doom.
What is therefore somewhat strange about the video that we have to share for you here is how there is really no mention of the family day in here at all. Instead, it is based all around a conversation between Big Jim and the local reverend where we have yet another reminder that these tactics of intimidation, which may work on some, are certainly not going to work on everyone.
Thus far, Jim has served as a capable villain, and Dean Norris has been in many ways the strongest part of this show. However, what this show has reinforced for us time and time again is that there are also a good many problems with having this character be just a villain. There is a significant amount of depth to him, and that should come out more and more in the weeks ahead.
