‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Laughing at Desiree Hartsock rumors
In this edition of “ridiculous things the press says about ‘The Bachelorette,'” we are turning to all of the publications who have suddenly taken it upon themselves this week to suddenly proclaim out of nowhere that “Desiree Hartsock is engaged!”. Really? Engaged? So she has had the same sort of ending as almost every other recent season of the show? You are going back all the way to Brad Womack’s first season to find a couple that did not get engaged on the final moments of the show, and production strongly tries to press their contestants to make this sort of grand gesture as a way to tie together their season with a romantic little bow.
So rather than trying to act like an engagement in this circumstance is altogether revolutionary, let’s focus instead on what you can expect to see when the show picks up following the “Men Tell All” special a week from Monday: The biggest event of the season, at least from an emotional standpoint.
Something during the overnight dates portion of the competition is going to have Desiree in tears, and wondering whether or not she will really be better off going home, or sticking it out to try and find love. While the previews have suggested that this couple involves Drew Kenney in some form, we’ve also seen Brooks Forester in a promo proclaim that he is having the “worst day of [his] life.”
What will make the engagement news particularly interesting will be in a number of months, if the couple is still together and actually moving forward with a wedding. Staying engaged is easier in the first few months, especially when you have that whole air of mystery and secrecy surrounding it.
