With every passing day, we have more casting news for the final season of “How I Met Your Mother.” We’ve already found out that Wayne Brady is going to reprise his role as James for several episodes, and also that we are going to see Sherri Shepherd come on for an arc as someone who spends time with Jason Segel’s Marshall.
So who is joining the series now? It’s none other than Ellie Kemper! According to TVLine, the actress and recent star of “The Office” will appear in at least one episode of the show as Cassie, who executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas describe as “one of the most attractive, available, and — as Ted discovers — unfortunate guests at Barney and Robin’s wedding,”
What we have already learned about the show via this casting is rather simple: While Ted does end up meeting his future wife (Cristin Milioti) at the wedding, he’s going to also be spending at least a little bit of time also chatting up some other attendees for the event in hopes of finding his future someone.
Given that Cassie made it to this shindig, it will be interesting to see how she really knows Barney or Robin in a way that has not been shown on the series thus far. Our only major concern is that it will be done in a way that is rather cheesy where the show tries to rewrite history, and we very much do not want that.
