It is certainly clear at this point that there is a lot to be excited about regarding season of the Scrubs revival — especially for people out there nostalgic for the original show!

By virtue of that, why not take a moment to discuss here a particularly happy return? According to a new report from Deadline, Neil Flynn is set to have a much larger role on the upcoming season as The Janitor, who now has a more prominent job than what he did on the original. You saw him first turn up at the end of the season 1 finale and now, there are going to be even more chances for him to be a part of the show. Flynn’s status will be recurring, which is similar to what we have for some other returning favorites like Carla (Judy Reyes) and Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley). The reason for these two actors not being regulars is them participating in other scripted shows that limit their schedule.

Ultimately, we do not think that the foundation of what Scrubs is will be changing that much over the next season, largely because there is a clear pattern here that works. This is a show that is going to be primarily about JD (Zach Braff), Elliott (Sarah Chalke), and Turk (Donald Faison) as the three navigate complicated medical cases with a touch of humor — sure, there are new interns, and we tend to think that they will be integrated in a way that was somewhat similar to what we saw in season 1.

As for whether or not some other original fan favorites return, that remains up in the air. We do think the door is always going to be open, schedule permitting, for a lot of other people to turn up.

What are you most eager to see from The Janitor moving into season 2 of the Scrubs revival?
