‘Royal Pains’ season 5, episode 4 review: Pregnancy gossip and Danny Pudi
Sometimes, having to wait an extra week for a new episode of something can have all sorts of surprising side effects. For one example of this very thing, we did not remember most of what we expected to see occur on Wednesday night’s all-new “Royal Pains” episode. We had Divya disclosing her pregnancy to everyone, mass paranoia as a result, and there was also an appearance from “Community” alum Danny Pudi.
When it comes to Pudi, he played a radio DJ that ended up being in desperate need of some medical attention after learning that he was suffering from a case of acute laryngitis, which quickly became worse when his fellow DJ pranked him. It was just nice first and foremost to see Danny take on a different role beyond Abed, even if it was frightening for a moment to see his character here nearly die.
As for Divya, there were not really many shockers or big news in here, save for the reveal that she has already talked about her unborn child’s future with Rafa, and it appears as though he is not going to be around much to care for it. When it comes to her point of view, which actually perceives this to be pretty good news for one primary reason: It means that she can have more license to be the mother that she wants to be.
Paige also got a new job in here working for an art dealer, and Hank finally decided to rent some space at the new hospital as a sign that he really is considering moving HankMed there, just so that the entire Blythe mess would not have to be that.
Was this a quick run-through? Sure, but that’s really what this episode of “Royal Pains” felt like: It was quick, breezy, and pretty funny. We don’t know if it was the most memorable hour of television that we’ve ever watched, but we had a good time, and for a summer show, you cannot quite ask for anything more than that.
