In just a matter of days the Widow’s Bay season 1 finale is officially set to arrive and by virtue of that, we imagine that we will get a ton of answers. Are we finally poised to learn the truth about the town? There is a good chance of that, but at the same time, we certainly believe in the prospect of loose ends.

After all, remember for a moment here that the Apple TV sensation was never promoted as a limited series; it was recently renewed for a season 2, but there is no way that the producers would have known that at the time they were getting the story together. With that, they likely designed the end of this season in a way where there could be some answers, but also something that tees up a far larger chapter of the story.

From where we sit at present, debating whether or not there could be a cliffhanger here likely comes down to the exact meaning of the word. If you think that there is going to be no closure at all, we’d be shocked about that. The producers are obviously not saying one way or another, but most advance information that has come out suggests that there are at least some surprises. The synopsis for the finale suggests that fundamentally, the focus is going to be on Tom as he tries to figure out if he is able to kill Ruth:

Season finale. We understand that hard choices had to be made and we may never be the same, but we hope you’ll visit again!

Are any of those tourists going to want to visit again after the storm? That’s at least a fair thing to consider in itself.
