At the time of this writing, we recognize that Law & Order: SVU season 28 is going to premiere this fall on NBC. While technically there are no seasons ordered beyond that, is there reason for hope? To put it bluntly, absolutely — and for a good reason as well.

If there is one crime drama that is really synonymous with the past generation-plus on network TV, isn’t it this one? It is worth remembering that it already holds the record for the longest-running primetime drama series ever in terms of seasons. We tend to think that everyone at this point continues because they not only value the work, but recognize that it is important and meaningful for viewers, as well.

One of these such people is Kelli Giddish, who has been a part of it for a significant amount of time as Amanda Rollins. Does she think that Law & Order: SVU will actually make it to season 30? Let’s just say that at least for now, she is certainly hopeful. Just take a look at what she had to say recently per TV Insider:

“Absolutely. It’s a huge milestone, and Dick Wolf wants it and I think Mariska [Hargitay] wants it, and when those two people want something, it gets done.”

If SVU was to ever end, the end of season 30 makes at least a reasonable amount of sense. Of course, they could continue if it is determined there are more stories to tell. The only thing we would hope is that if Hargitay were to ever leave, the show would shut down. There is no series here without Benson.
