Widow’s Bay season 1 episode 9 spoilers: EP sets the stage

For those who are unaware, Widow’s Bay season 1 episode 9 is the penultimate one of the season, and we absolutely think there will be plenty of chaos. How can there not be?

Here is where we think everything stands at this point. The Boogeyman appears to be gone now — though if that was the real boogeyman, how did they make it out of their resting place in the first place? Meanwhile, we’ve also seen Wyck and Tom seemingly “break” the curse over the island, only for it to not actually be the case. There are so many more problems still coming, and it does remain to be seen if some of them will carry over into a potential season 2.

Speaking in a new interview with The Wrap, here is some of what creator Katie Dippold had to say about the road to come:

“Loftis thinks the curse is over. He’s celebrating with his son and it seems like the start of a new chapter … But it’s never over.”

The choice of words here, to put it lightly, is quite fascinating. If all of this is “never over,” what does that mean about the end of the season? Are the problems on the island going to be ongoing? We do think figuring that out for the producers could be an ongoing balancing act. You want to give these people some element of hope that things could be changing in the town. However, at the same time, there needs to still be conflict and stakes. Beyond all of that, of course still some major reasons to laugh.
