Call the Midwife season 16 premiere date: A June 2026 update

Is there a chance that we are going to hear something more about Call the Midwife season 16 between now and the end of June?
Of course make no mistake here that it would be great to get a slightly better sense soon as to when the period drama was going to be returning with new episodes. We have been especially lucky to have an opportunity to see this show be an annual staple on BBC One and PBS for well over a decade.

However, for 2026 moving into 2027, things are certainly different. There will be more Call the Midwife, but not necessarily in the same way we have seen it in the past. You are going to get, for starters, a prequel series kicking off as early as December. Then, at some point after that a feature film before season 16 eventually surfaces. This change of pace will allow the story to somewhat reset, which makes sense given that Nonnatus as we knew it is basically gone; this show has always been about change but moving forward, some of that is going to be far more massive than it was previously.
So from where we stand, it feels like we are going to be lucky to hear something more about season 16 anytime soon. The best-case scenario from where things stand at present is that we hear something more about the prequel before the end of the month. As excited as we are to see where some things go moving forward with these characters, we do think it will be exciting to learn more about life in Poplar before where things are later on down the road. Let’s just hope that there are some fantastic actors front and center for most of it.
When do you think we are actually going to see Call the Midwife season 16 eventually arrive?
Be sure to share right now in the attached comments! Once you do just that, remember to come back — there are a lot of other updates coming down the road.
