Is Saturday Night Live new tonight on NBC, May 30, 2026?

Is Saturday Night Live new tonight over on NBC? We certainly would not blame anyone at this point who wants more intel on the show’s future. It has been a small stretch now since the Will Ferrell episode aired, but is that really it until the fall rolls around?

To put it bluntly (and unfortunately), yes. There are no plans for more SNL until the season 52 premiere, and it may be some time before we even get more news on what lies ahead there. No cast exits were revealed ahead of the season 51 finale and given how big an exodus we had following season 50 / during season 51 with Bowen Yang, we really do not have that much of an appetite to see a number of other cast members depart. Then again, this is really going to be up to what Lorne Michaels and/or the performers want out of the future.

So when will we learn more about the future of Saturday Night Live? If we are lucky, there is a chance that a few more details are going to start coming up in late August / early September, whether it be about the cast or who the first host of the season will be. For now that is probably something that is far too early to call; the easy assumption is that it would be someone who has a hit summer movie, a big album, or gets in the headlines in one way or another. If you are the show, you obviously should want to garner a lot of attention for yourself right away.

As for new cast members, we are sure there will be at least one or two, given that this is something that happens almost every year. Standing pat is really not something that exists within Michaels’ vocabulary.
