Widow’s Bay season 1 episode 8: What could Evan do?

After everything that we just had a chance to see this week on Apple TV, it feels like the stakes for Widow’s Bay season 1 episode 8 are through the roof. How could they not be? We’ve known about a lot of strange and seemingly-supernatural encounters in the town already, but the latest twist feels far more personal.

Did we think there was a chance that Evan’s mother did not die in childbirth? Sure, but the last thing we anticipated was for there to be photographic evidence of her with her son when he was young! He stumbled upon some of this and because of that, we are moving into a place where there absolutely are some conversations that need to be had.

What is Evan going to do with this information? The obvious answer is that he is going to have a conversation with his father about it … but will he? There is a sudden case to be made here that he may not see the point in it, given that he’s been lied to by Tom so many times. Why trust him all of a sudden? There may be a good reason why Tom has withheld some of this information, but given that Evan is so young and also the aforementioned betrayal, he may not be altogether keen to listen.

The more curious (and dangerous) idea is that through the remaining three episodes of the season, we may have a situation here where Evan goes on his own quest for answers, looking for any other evidence of her survival in town. Could she still be on the island? Anything is possible, but she may have also found a way to escape somewhere else.
