MobLand season 3: Could Tom Hardy still return as Harry?

Despite all the tension and reports in the press over the past few days, could Tom Hardy still return for MobLand season 3? Well, for now, let’s just say that nothing is presently set in stone.

Here is what we can say for the time being. According to a report from Variety, there are still discussions underway about bringing the actor back, even following reports of issues behind the scenes of the hit Paramount+ drama. Here is what one source had to say on the subject:

Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.

Despite whatever reports are out there at present, there are certainly reasons for Paramount to want to keep MobLand around. First and foremost, consider the fact that Hardy is a big-name actor with a large fan base, and he brings viewers to the show just as Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren do. Are you really going to find someone of the same caliber to replace him? That seems to be a hard thing to achieve. Also, having to find a new actor could also lead to some delays behind the scenes, and there is never a guarantee that a new story would work.

The irony to all of this reporting, at least to us, is that MobLand has technically not been renewed as of yet for a season 3. By virtue of that, we suppose you can view a lot of this reporting as pretty clear evidence that one way or another, we are going to see the show back. The largest question is just when that renewal is going to be announced. (Our feeling? A little later this year, right around the time that season 2 premieres.)
