Half Man season 2: Is it renewed, canceled at HBO?

In light of tonight being the Half Man season 1 finale at HBO, is there more that we can be saying right now regarding a season 2? Is there any chance in the world of that happening?

Well, with some shows — even those that are designated a limited series like this one — there is a measure of ambiguity that can be thrown out there. We are not sure that this is the case here. This is a show with a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end; beyond just that, we are not sure that there is anywhere you could even take a possible second season after what you see in the finale.

Perhaps more so than thinking about a possible Half Man season 2 at this point, we tend to think that the smarter thing to do is just consider whether HBO will want to work again with Richard Gadd on some other project — which we do think they should. This series never managed to garner the same level of attention as Baby Reindeer, but that was probably an unfair expectation in the first place. The Netflix limited series was a strike of lightning, the sort of event that really just tends to happen once no matter who you are. This show was also full of compelling, dark characters with plenty of twists.

Ultimately, with a creative mind like Gadd the best thing that you can do is give them time to try and conjure up something else. This is not a creative process that can be rushed, and ultimately, the quality of the project would be less in the event that it was.

Honestly, the best thing that you can really do is try and recommend Half Man to as many people as possible. It almost feels destined to be the sort of show that grows in popularity after it ends.
