Murderbot season 2 premiere date: A May 2026 update

Is there a chance that we are going to learn a little bit more about Murderbot season 2 between now and the end of May? If not a premiere date, can we at least learn more about some new characters?

Before we go too much further into anything here, let’s just start things off here with a reminder that the second season is, in fact, going to be coming to Apple TV down the road. Not only that, but we can go ahead and say now that filming is underway! The plan is for the Alexander Skarsgard sci-fi comedy to film in multiple countries over the next several months. It is going to be broad and ambitious in its approach, which makes sense given where SecUnit could be going moving forward.

If you watched the end of season 1, you know that Skarsgard’s character ended up departing its team to explore some new horizons. This is one of the first times that it has had control on its own future, and a lot of the story could be about embracing that feeling. Could there still be a reunion down the road? Never say never, mostly because in the world of TV, this is something that viewers often do want.

While it is possible that we may get some Murderbot casting intel before the month is over, it is really hard to imagine us learning a whole lot more beyond that. Given how long it takes to film the show, plus how long it will take to do special effects once it is done, our feeling is that it could premiere at some point in 2028. Our hope is for winter / early spring, but Apple TV will have final control of that once we get to the other side of production wrapping.
