Is Tom Hardy leaving MobLand after season 2?

Even though there is no official MobLand season 2 premiere date over at Paramount+, are there still questions now about the long-term future? That could be the case, at least based on some new reports that are out there.

According to Puck News, series star and executive producer Tom Hardy could be departing the crime drama following the upcoming season, with the alleged reason being tied to behind-the-scenes conflicts with other producers. The site claims that the actor envisioned the show as more of a starring vehicle when, in reality, it has become more of an ensemble-led story. Our personal hope is that if Hardy is in fact departing after the season there will at least be a measure of closure and a way for it to make a reasonable amount of sense.

Ultimately, we do know that MobLand has a good bit of star power elsewhere in the event that it does return for a season 3, whether it be with the likes of Pierce Brosnan or Helen Mirren. They could also bring on board someone new. This is a show that managed to be a rather big hit for Paramount+ with season 1, which we are sure they appreciated for a multitude of reasons. For starters, consider the fact that they still need other hits that are not just Taylor Sheridan productions or revivals of properties that already existed like Criminal Minds or Dexter.

For the time being, we may just have to wait and see what happens when the show eventually premieres. From where we sit it does at least feel like this would be a fun show to be a part of, mostly because of its relentless action and the opportunities that exist here to spend time with other great performers.
