Half Man episode 5 spoilers: The last before finale

Next week on HBO, you are going to have an opportunity in order to see Half Man episode 5 — and it is fair to say the stories ahead are huge.

After all, consider a few different things here. For starters, this is the penultimate story of the season, and everything that happens here could dovetail almost directly into the finale. Also, remember what we saw at the end of episode 4! It certainly seems as though Ruben is dead and judging from the outfits, all of this may have happened at Niall’s wedding, the same exact place where he showed up and delivered an impromptu speech. Ruben has been his brother’s specter, the person who haunts him no matter where he is. To have him show up on one of the most important days of his life … it is not too hard to figure out why things would be more emotionally charged than ever before.

As Niall and Ava navigate major life changes, Ruben faces challenges in his own relationship with Mona. Niall makes an impulsive decision with lasting repercussions for everyone involved.

Does this mean that Niall is responsible for whatever happens to Ruben? It is certainly easy to see that, but we do think that to go along with the events of the present, there is still so much more to learn from the past. Thanks to what we have seen across the first four episodes so far, we do think we’ve got a pretty good sense of what the show’s central framing device is. We would be a little bit surprised to see them move away from it until at least the finale.
