The Bear season 5 spoilers: Will Richie be okay?

Heading into The Bear season 5 on Hulu at this point, it makes sense to hae all sorts of questions. In particular, we mean that when it comes to Richie.
If you watched the entirety of the “Gary” story from start to finish, then you know to some extent what we are talking about already. While the bulk of the prequel took place in the past, it ends with him in a car accident. Is that something that could carry over between season 5? It seems possible, but star Ebon Moss-Bachrach is hesitant to say anything too specific.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actor does not 100% confirm that the story takes place between seasons 4 and 5, but does signal its overall importance:
“It’s very important that this is… It’s a memory piece,” he says. “The entire episode seems to take place in Richie’s head that morning as he’s maybe on his way to work, it seems like, and he’s lost in the past. Then, life rams back into you and reality… It just doesn’t give you time to spend too long ruminating.”
Personally, we do really hope that this takes place right before The Bear season 5, mostly because that would allow Richie to enter the final chapter potentially with a greater sense of propulsion. We want him to take his life more by the horns, almost as he did in the iconic episode “Forks.” This is someone who has struggled to consistently do that or see the good himself. However, it is abundantly clear to us now that there is some measure of good worth celebrating. Whether or not he makes those leaps forward, however, remains to be seen.
