Next week on NBC you are going to have a chance to see Law & Order: SVU season 27 episode 21 — in other words, the finale. Just from the fact alone that the finale is titled “Monster,” we are of the belief that some terrible stuff is likely to happen. If it doesn’t transpire, what are we really doing here? We find it better to come into this installment bracing for chaos, and we will just have to see what transpires when the dust actually settles.

Of course, the one silver lining in all of this is feeling confident that the Mariska Hargitay series is going to be around for some time. We are lucky to know that a season 28 is already official and personally, we are still hoping that the show can make it to season 30. We are obviously aware that all things must end eventually but for us, that happens here whenever Hargitay decides it is time to step away. This is one of those instances where we really cannot see a show existing without its lead character.

Now, why not dive a little bit more into what the next part of the story could look like? If you look belo, you can see the full Law & Order: SVU season 27 episode 21 synopsis below:

05/14/2026 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Thursday) : A procedural mistake made during the rescue of a kidnapped boy causes the case to collapse in court. As Griffin gets closer to the truth about Tynan, he finds himself in grave danger. TV-14

Is there going to be a cliffhanger at the end of all this? We would not be shocked if that is the case, but we’ve said on multiple instances already that this is not a series solely dependent on jaw-droppers. The top priority here should simply always be working to nail the emotional resonance of the story being told.
