Following its big premiere today on BBC One, why not learn a little bit more about The Cage season 1 episode 2? Based on where things stand at present, it does appear like this is a series worth watching, and one that could pack a lot of content in from start to finish.

Written and created by BAFTA award-nominated Tony Schumacher (The Responder) and produced by Academy award-winning Element Pictures, a Fremantle company (Poor Things, Normal People), for BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The Cage is a high-stakes, high energy crime story set within the world of a Liverpool casino with two unforgettable characters at its heart.
When Leanne (Sheridan Smith) and Matty (Michael Socha) discover they are both robbing from the safe at the inner-city casino they work in, their lives are set on a collision course; with each other, the local gangster they’re stealing from, and the police.
Just from what we are seeing here alone, this feels like absolutely the perfect show for anyone who likes high-stakes crime thrillers with a lot of drama from start to finish.
As for what we can say about what is next…
Well, for starters, remember here that The Cage will be back next Sunday in the same timeslot. Here is some of what you can expect to see in its totality:
Leanne and Matty panic as Nancy and Gary review the casino books. As danger grows, Ning urges Matty to spy while Gary closes in on Leanne.
Because this is only five episodes, the biggest thing we can say here is quite simple: The story has to move quickly. There is no other choice!
