Saturday Night Live: Jonah Hill welcomes Jack Black to Five-Timers’ Club

We knew entering tonight’s Saturday Night Live episode that someone was going to welcome Jack Black into the Five-Timers’ Club. Who thought it would ever be Jonah Hill?
Well, we will admit that the first time that we have seen Jonah in at least three years, and he turned up with a huge beard joking that he was working on a sequel to Superbad. That did not happen. He was then joined by a number of other people on stage, including the likes of Tina Fey, Candice Bergen, Melissa McCarthy, and then also musical guest Jack White — who was there performing for the fifth time. We got a little bit of music in this, and that does make sense given some of Black’s own musical inclinations.

Of course, this was fun. We were actually a little worried entering the show that Black, who has often been an unexpected superstar in the movie business, was going to get some sort of muted entry into the club. Also, Fey recently appeared on the UK version of SNL and we weren’t quite sure we would see her come back stateside for this version so soon. Bergen is always a thrill, and then Hill? We honestly just want to know what led to him making the appearance in the first place.
Ultimately, we hope that the show never stops doing these Five-Timers’ sketches mostly because there are so many great cameos throughout. We still aren’t sure they are as fun if you are spoiled in advance, but we really do welcome the surprise and all the fun we get here.
