Saturday Night Live: Jack White sings ‘G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs’

Jack White served as the musical guest for Saturday Night Live this weekend, but what exactly was it that he brought to the table?
The great thing with White is that it’s almost a sure thing you are in for a treat if you are in the live audience — this is one of the best musicians in the world still putting out great hits. We had a brief sampling of the classic White Stripes hit “Seven Nation Army” early on in the monologue; for his opening performance, we ended up getting a brand-new track in “Derecho Demonico.”

Obviously, this is the sort of song that was destined to have a great guitar star and technically, we got more than one here … which we are certainly not mad about. This felt like pure classic rock from start to finish and honestly, the sort of thing we really wish that the show had more of these days. (Heck, go ahead and say the same thing about the entire music industry.)
As for White’s second song…
He hit the stage here with his band to perform “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs,” another hard-driving rock song. This one explored temptation, the afterlife, the Garden of Eden, and a whole lot more.
