The Studio season 2 will address passing of Catherine O’Hara

As many of you out there may know, Catherine O’Hara had an important role on The Studio season 1 as Patty Leigh, a mentor to Seth Rogen’s character / studio head Matt. However, she tragically passed away in late January, and that of course means that there is a hole in the heart for so many who work on the Apple TV hit.
Given the short amount of time between O’Hara’s passing and work being done on the series, it is fair to wonder if there would be much of a chance for Rogen and the creative team to address it. However, it does appear as though Rogen and fellow executive producer Evan Goldberg have a plan.
Speaking to the Times of London about this situation, here is some of what Goldberg had to say:
“It has been an unbelievable challenge … Obviously emotionally, dealing with the loss, but also when it comes to the show itself. We wrote it for her to be there. We had it all set and the shock waves permeate throughout the entire new season. It’s been difficult. You worded it better than we could — she was the anchor and now the anchor is gone.”
Meanwhile, Rogen added the following:
“If anything, we’re acknowledging the idea that we are a little anchorless. But, honestly, that is a part of life and what we all experience. And so while we try to not dwell too much on heavy themes in this show, they will be there in this second season. We are not ignoring it.”
The Studio will still be funny and in a lot of ways, we are sure that this is what O’Hara would want. Yet, her impact on the series cannot be overstated, both in terms of her on-screen presence and also the inspiration that she served as to much of the cast and crew.
