Paradise season 2 episode 8 (finale): Who is Alex? The reveal!

For most of Paradise season 2, we spent a great deal of time and energy wondering the truth about Alex — who it is, and what exactly they are after.

As it turns out, the results were complicated. This was a supercomputer that was meant to be developed into an incredibly sophisticated AI. Yet, a lot of the progress that was made here was eventually curtailed by it started to become more complicated for its own good. It started to manipulate time and create anomalies that were incredibly difficult for anyone out there to properly figure out. Was Dylan one of these said anomalies? That appears to be the implication here.

Basically, a good percentage of what we’ve seen throughout the season has been the end result of Alex’s manipulations. It is also a predictor in a way, and it was able to properly project what transpired when it comes to life on the surface. It was also able to look at Sinatra and determine that she was going to die by the end of the day. That was clearly one of the driving forces for tension that took place throughout the finale. She did die, but she also gave Xavier the key to figure out the future. We tend to think that the characters are now existing in a bizarre time-loop where there are multiple timelines blending together, the result of Alex’s own manipulation. The only way to really stop everything could be Xavier heading underneath the Denver airport, where Alex is housed, and solving all of this for good.

In general, we would say that most of the predictions that we saw entering the finale were partially true — but it was hard for everyone to figure out every single piece of the puzzle.
