The Count of Monte Cristo episode 3 preview: The transformation

We know that for a lot of people out there, we do not have to do much table-setting when it comes to The Count of Monte Cristo over at PBS. After all, we are talking about one of the most iconic novels of the past several centuries, a story that is a lot about revenge but then also, the path leading up to it.
For most of the first two episodes of the PBS version, we have seen more of the setup. Edmond is now in a position where he is about to undergo the all-important transformation. In a lot of ways, this is where you can argue the real meat of the story is about to take place — we’re prepared for action, but also some delightful espionage at the same exact time.

To get a few more details now on what is to come, be sure to check out The Count of Monte Cristo episode 3 synopsis below:
After escaping from the Castle d’If and discovering Mercedes’ marriage, Edmond flees to Italy. With the help of his new friend, Jacopo, Edmond sails to Monte Cristo to seek the rumored treasure, transform himself into the Count, and plot his revenge.
Do we think that there are a number of twists still coming? Sure, but we also imagine that many of them will be telegraphed far in advance by those familiar with the material. We do get the sense that this version of the story is going to be reasonably faithful, though there is always a chance that a few things could be twisted over time for a number of reasons.
For now, we’re just eager to see how the producers play out some of these beats — but beyond just that, also how they choose to make this world as immersive as humanly possible.
