The Pitt season 2 episode 11: Does EP have certain regrets?

We know that The Pitt season 2 episode 11 brought a lot of story to the table — much of it was timely, and some could be controversial. In particular, the latter can be tied to the presence of ICE agents at the hospital with a detainee who the doctors attempted to treat. The situation escalated soon after, leading to the arrest of nurse Jesse.

This storyline is one rare ones on the series in that we knew a little about it in advance, mostly because of comments executive producer John Wells made on The Town suggested that the higher-ups wanted to ensure there was a story told from all perspectives. This was, after all, happening at a time in which Warner Bros. was looking to be sold enough and we probably do not even need to note all the various business complications here.

In the aftermath of everything, showrunner R. Scott Gemmill does seem to wish that there were some parts of the story done more aggressively, especially since the story was written months before tragic events unfolded, especially in Minnesota. Here is some of what he had to say on the matter to Gold Derby:

“In retrospect, I think we could have pushed a little harder … We were trying to tell both sides of the story, trying to be fair, and yet, what’s happened subsequently is much worse than anything we would have imagined. It felt important to tell that story because of what was going on. I’m glad we did it.”

Could the show have done more? Under different circumstances, perhaps — but it is also hard to predict just how real-life events will unfold months in advance.
