IT: Welcome to Derry season 2: Show EP on early plans

As great as it would be to have more information on IT: Welcome to Derry season 2 right now, the reality here is rather simple: It has technically not been renewed as of yet. It is inevitable that we’re going to get more of the horror series at some point, but HBO is clearly waiting for the right time to transmit some sort of larger announcement into the universe.

In the meantime, why not go ahead and just get some food for our soul — or, to be more specific, proof that the producers are planning ahead?

Speaking (per Screen Rant) while at a press conference for the Saturn Awards, executive producer Andy Muschietti had the following to say about where everything currently stands:

“We’re very proud that the expectations are high after the first season. I think we’re going to deliver something that is greater.”

So what can we say about season 2, based on the assorted things that we have had an opportunity to hear about? Well, for starters, the show will be diving back in time again to the previous Pennywise cycle in the 1930’s. The idea here is to see the entity trying to work to once again alter the future. There will certainly be some new characters that we have a chance to see, but also possibly younger versions of people we’ve already met. In between getting the story together and casting all the new characters, it is no shock to us at all that we’re going to be stuck waiting until at least next year (if not longer) to see the series back. We suppose that as of right now, we really should just settle for being able to get renewal news before we get to the summer.
