Marshals season 1 episode 3: Could Cole Hauser appear as Rip?
As we look in the direction of Marshals season 1 episode 3 over at CBS, we do at least know there are a lot of possibilities as to where the story could go. Are we aware that the series has some heavy procedural elements? Absolutely, but we got a nice reminder in episode 2 that they are willing to embrace the greater Yellowstone universe in whatever form they possibly can.
During this episode, we got a reminder that Rip was sending some people to help watch over Kayce’s property while he worked with the Marshals and pursued a new path in life after Monica’s death — this is a reminder that the worlds are still connected, even if we are not seeing Cole Hauser turn up on-screen at present.

Is something still possible here? In theory sure, and that is what showrunner Spencer Hudnut addressed recently to TVLine:
“We have a couple of characters who will pop up this season who are from [the ‘Yellowstone’] universe … You know, Kayce still has a sister and brother-in-law who are out there, so, that’s always potentially on the horizon. I don’t know how we would make all that work.”
There are inherently two different challenges that could come from bringing Hauser or Kelly Reilly (Beth) onto the show. First and foremost, they have been working on a separate spin-off as of late in The Dutton Ranch and you would need to make the schedules work. Also, you need to have money in the budget for it! These are two big stars, and of course delivering this sort of crossover appearance would not come cheap. Still, never say never depending on how long the series stays on the air.
