Paradise season 2 episode 5 spoilers: The obvious trust issues

In a handful of days from now we are going to see Paradise season 2 episode 5 arrive over at Hulu — and you better believe we want more information!

To be perhaps even more specific, the information we want here is tied to the mysterious man who turned up in the final minutes of episode 4. What we know about him at this point is quite simple: He claims to know Teri, but also says that she has been taken. He speaks about her in the present tense, which is enough to make us think that she is still out there alive.

Now, of course, here is where the big question mark does have to come into play — is this someone who Xavier can really trust? Over much of episode 4, we saw Sterling K. Brown’s character explicitly emphasize on multiple occasions how he saw the good in other people. He may want to do so here, and also could feel validated that complete strangers tried their best in order to save Annie’s life.

In this situation, the waters are even muddier by the fact that this guy holds a lot of the information Xavier desperately needs. What’s the best way to get him on your side? This has to be one of the questions he asks himself in the opening minutes of episode 5. Even if you do not trust him, you have to be at least convincing that you do — anything to get the door of communication open for a minute. That can be a foundation for answers and really, trust here is something that Xavier will have to assess and re-assess on an almost constant basis. Otherwise, he could find himself making a mistake that leads to all his goals crumbling.
