Monarch: Legacy of Monsters spin-off: Wyatt Russell’s new tease

There is so much to be excited about from the world of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters right now, whether it be season 2 airing or the upcoming spin-off. That show is seemingly poised to deliver something very-much different from what we’re seeing so far, both in terms of style and format.
If you have not heard much about the spin-off, it will “follow the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who, in 1984, went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.” Wyatt Russell is poised to both star and executive-produce the project, and we wonder exactly how much it will feel like a historical drama as much as anything.

Based on what we are hearing so far, we are at least thrilled that Russell is so excited about it. Just take a look at what he had to say on the subject to The Hollywood Reporter:
“We are shooting it this summer, and I’ve read the scripts. They’re very well written. I’m more excited to start working on this than I have been about anything in a long time … The genre that the Lee Shaw show will live in is totally separate from the genre that Monarch lives in. By early on in the show, people are going to be like, ‘This is wild. This is so different from what I thought I was going to be watching — in the best way.’”
In general, we tend to think that the timeframe of the Monsterverse makes it so that a lot of these separate stories are possible, especially since it takes away nothing from the other shows or movies. Instead, we tend to think it just gives further insight to the world.
