Industry season 5 spoilers: What will Yasmin’s future truly be?

As we look towards Industry season 5 now on HBO, it already feels clear that some of the darkest stuff we’ve seen so far is coming for Yasmin. After all, how could it not when you consider the ending to season 4? This character has gone from being mistreated and exploited to now doing this to other women, surrounding herself with horrible men and then using their dark impulses and secrets to her advantage.

For most of the series, we have seen how Marisa Abela’s character has been eager to find some sort of agency for herself. She now has it, but what is the cost? At this point, this character may be so far gone in a way that she can never be redeemed.

As for whether or not Abela wants redemption for her character, she had some pretty interesting thoughts to share in an interview with The Wrap:

Of course I would want that for her … but who knows? We’re talking about “Industry” here, and it’s a pretty brutal show.

I’m very intrigued to see the response to who Yasmin has become at the end of Season 4. I’ve loved playing someone for four seasons that people either love or love to hate, and it’s going to be really interesting to be playing someone who, at the end of Season 4 is kind of unforgivable, so I’m just excited to see how people feel about Yasmin. I’m scared, but I’m excited.

We do recognize that within the world of Industry, characters leave after being in some way freed or redeemed — however, that does not mean they get happy endings by any means. Just remember what happened to Rishi earlier this season, or Eric walking off into the distance.
