Is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms new tonight on HBO? We would love nothing more, of course, than to see the series back in the near future.

As for whether or not that is about to happen … well, this is where the unfortunate news comes into play. We are going to be stuck waiting for a good while longer to see the series back, as it is done with its six-episode first season. Why so short? The only answer we can give on that is that George R.R. Martin designed the novella to have a clearly-defined beginning, middle, and end.

Now that we’ve said all of this, here is where we do at least have a reasonably good amount of news to share — not only is a season 2 coming, but it is currently in production! This is based on the next novella in Martin’s series, and it seems as though the plan is fairly similar to what we’ve had this time around — six episodes, and with all of them ranging between 30 minutes and an hour in length. We hope that they will be ready to air within the first half of 2027.

As for the future beyond that, Martin has written at least one more novella based around Dunk and Egg, and it is our feeling that we are going to be seeing it ordered at some point this year. Beyond that, there is still room for a number of other adventures for the two that take them through much of their lives. Showrunner Ira Parker has already discussed some future series with the author, so there is potential to see a whole lot more in the relatively near future.
