The Hunting Party season 3: Where things stand on renewal

Is The Hunting Party season 3 going to happen on NBC? Out of all the bubble series the network currently has, it may be easy to argue that this one is in one of the most unique positions, and for a number of different reasons.
First and foremost, it is worth pointing out that outside of the greater Dick Wolf universe, there really needs to be some sort of consistent drama presence. The Melissa Roxburgh series is not the weakest performer of the field, as that goes to Brilliant Minds — a show facing an uphill battle after it was pulled off the schedule this winter / spring. However, a report from Deadline notes that The Hunting Party has performed rather well since the first season arrived on Netflix, and the hope may be here that it can have a ripple effect over to NBC and Peacock down the road.

One other thing we personally believe could help the show is the presence of some rather big-name guest stars. For example, this season has already brought us such notable actors as Kelsey Grammer and Elizabeth Gillies. Meanwhile, Roxburgh’s former Manifest co-star Josh Dallas is coming. We’ve compared it a lot to The Blacklist since it arrived and the both do have a commonality: Because most of the meaty roles go to the adversaries, it is easy to attract some talent to the parts. That could be beneficial long-term.
While nothing is absolutely cemented as of yet when it comes to the future of The Hunting Party down the road, we would say you can be cautiously optimistic. Much will depend on live ratings the next month-plus, and we anticipate that a firm decision is going to arrive by the time we get to either late April or early May.
