Saturday Night Live sets Harry Styles as host, musical guest

If you wanted to be even more excited about the future of Saturday Night Live heading into the month of March, we have it now in the form of Harry Styles!

Today, it was announced that on March 14, the singer / actor is going to host and also serve as the musical guest. This is a semi-regular occurrence for the show, and we saw it not that long ago with Sabrina Carpenter. Styles should do more than fine here, as his history with the series dates all the way back to his days as a part of One Direction.

While it has not been necessarily confirmed as of yet, do not be surprised if Styles’ turn on SNL ends up being the final one over the course of March. After all, this weekend marks Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie making his first appearance. Meanwhile, after the fact you will see Ryan Gosling return to Studio 8H on March 7. This is a show that often airs episodes in batches of three before taking a break.

Ultimately, our hope here is simply that Styles goes big and broad in his appearance as host, being game to be self-deprecating while also taking on whatever the show throws at him. We certainly think that he will bring a hefty audience to the program, which is always one of the things that the show wants more than anything else. Let’s just hope that there are a few sketches that stand out and beyond just that, a notable performance to go along with it. Pulling a double-duty like this can be really difficult but at the same time, we are eager to see whatever the end results are.
