Boston Blue season 2: Will Marisa Ramirez be back as Maria Baez?

As many of you may be aware at this point, there is going to be a Boston Blue season 2 coming to CBS during the 2026-27 season. So with that, why not have a larger chat about the overall story?

We very much are aware of the fact that one of the selling points of the Donnie Wahlberg series is nostalgia from the original Blue Bloods — while we enjoy getting to know the Silver family, we also do not think that this is going to be going anywhere, either. The original series went on for a decade and a half, and a lot of those characters are now a part of viewers’ collective TV families. That even includes some outside the core Reagan family like Maria Baez, who was finally confirmed as a romantic partner of Danny’s at the start of the Boston Blue series premiere.

Now, we are pleased to hand over a tiny bit of additional news regarding the show’s future: Marisa Ramirez is not going anywhere moving forward. In a recent post on Instagram featuring both the actress and Wahlberg, he confirmed that we will see more of Baez next season. Does that mean full-time, or as a recurring guest star? That still remains to be seen, and the last thing we want to do is offer up some sort of guarantee one way or another. We are just pleased to see that everyone on the CBS show is planning that far ahead, as there are still a number of episodes still to air in season 1.

If you were not aware, Boston Blue will return one week from Friday. Meanwhile, it is our hope that there will be new installments for most of the rest of the season — though we imagine it could be off the air temporarily during the NCAA Tournament.
