Brilliant Minds season 3: Are renewal hopes now up in smoke?

If some of you missed the news, it turns out that we are going to be waiting much longer than expected to see Brilliant Minds return to NBC.

So what are we talking about in particular here? Well, the network is extending their upcoming run of The Voice to two hours and with that, the future of the Zachary Quinto series now is somewhat up in the air. There’s a chance that the remaining episodes air in the spring but if not then, the summer could start to come into play.

The immediate implication of this sort of move is probably clear to a lot of people out there — after all, you can claim that the odds of a Brilliant Minds season 3 are now fairly low. It is a reasonable concern, but at the same time, there is still the possibility that the show overperforms in streaming and that is enough to bring it back — at least at Peacock.

So what we are trying to say right now is fairly simple: While it does feel correct to be worried about the future of the series at present, we would also not consider it to be a death sentence overall. If you do want to help it to any degree, the best advice we can offer is to either watch live or get as many people as possible streaming on Peacock.

When will the official news on the future be revealed?

Well, for now, we are looking towards what is typically the case: You learn something, one way or another, by the time we get around to May. With a show like this it would be a surprise to learn something earlier. Either it becomes a last-minute renewal, or this is a cancellation that the network tries to bury amidst a lot of other things going on.
