Survivor 51: Jeff Probst eager to keep going as host

Given that Survivor 50 is such a huge milestone, we understand anyone who would anticipate major changes after the fact. After all, there are moments that call for shake-ups, whether it be the format, the casting, or particular twists.
Does one of them have to be the host? Not necessarily. Even though you may question some of Jeff Probst’s decisions here and there as showrunner (where are the family visits?), there is no denying his love of the game and appreciation for the players. This is a guy who cares deeply about every single part of production and while there were times in the past he thought about leaving, he is not of that mindset anymore.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Probst reiterated that he is eager to stay put on Survivor for rather long time:
“I’m telling you right now, there’s no thought in my mind at all about leaving … I love where the show is. I love our crew. I love the type of people that are applying. It’s up in every category of ethnic diversity. Every category is up, and everybody’s saying it’s because ‘I see myself reflected and represented on the show, so now I want to be on the show.’ That makes me excited, along with watching young people come up and say, ‘I want to play this f—–g game!’ That’s really exciting.”
Probst does add in the same interview that he definitely sees the series outlasting him, but the future will really depend on getting the right host and producers on board who understand what makes the game incredible. We do recognize that one of the biggest challenges for the show in general is trying to please hardcore gamer fans while also making the show appealing for younger viewers discovering it for the first time. This is not an easy thing to pull off! Yet, at least he does recognize the inherent push and pull there and we are happy to see what the next iteration of this world looks like.
