‘The Newsroom’ season 2 spoilers: Jeff Daniels, Olivia Munn tease story
A week from Sunday, there will be no more sitting around and waiting: “The Newsroom” season 2 will be back on the air! For those of you who are massive fans of all things Atlantis Cable News, you will have a chance to check out what Will McAvoy and company are going to do in order to get themselves out of what is a pretty nasty mess involving their parent company, a deposition, and dealing with some feisty executives.
One of the notorious ones, of course, is Jane Fonda’s Leona Lansing, who will be around during the early portion of the season without a doubt. In a new video interview with “Extra” (which you can see below), Jeff Daniels tries to describe just what this very scene during one of the early episodes of the season was like to film:
“A Jane Fonda scene to beat all Jane Fonda scenes. She just annihilates me and Sam Waterston and Emily Mortimer.”
Also in this video are a pair of other interesting highlights from the world of the show:
1. Olivia Munn stressing out about how she was forced to learn Chinese pretty much overnight in order to make a certain part of the Sloan Sabbath character believable. Not an easy thing to do, and it should be noted that there was an hour-long cry session jammed right in the middle of this.
2. Emily Mortimer, who plays the “News Night” executive producer of Mackenzie McHale, getting an opportunity to play “Extra” executive producer and share some of her own thoughts on what should be on the entertainment news show.
